People will change positions but institutions will remain. The Bamenda Regional Hospital now has a new Director in the person of Dr. Nsame Denis Nforniwe. He was officially commissioned into office by the North West Regional Delegate of Public Health, Dr Kingsley Che Soh, during a handing over ceremony that took place in the Hospital multi-purpose Hall on Wednesday 18th September, 2019.

In a handing over address, the outgoing Director, Dr Kinge Thompson Njie echoed that he would not want to scare the incoming Director, Dr Nsame Denis, with a litany of happenings resulting from the prevailing socio-political crisis, but would invite him to take advantage of the available, committed and resilient personnel serving in the hospital, integrating the prevailing context of crisis into his work plan so as to sustain the growing patient satisfaction level.

The Regional Delegate then coordinated the reading and signing of the handing over documents as well as the handing over and taking over ritual after reading the Ministerial order appointing Dr. Nsame Denis, formally declaring him installed as the Director of the Bamenda Regional Hospital
Following his effective assumption of duty, the Regional Delegate of Public Health urged the new Director and the entire management team of the Regional Hospital to scrupulously implement and ensure the follow-up of the road map of the Ministry of Public Health. Amongst others, he cited the improvement of the quality of equipment and infrastructure for the maternity, theatre, imagery centre, Hemodialysis centre and the New Private Ward; the setting up of modern Emergency and Reanimation Units, the institution of an efficient system for monitoring the implementation of all priority Health Programmes in the Hospital; ensuring strict compliance with texts binding the motivation of personnel of public health facilities in accordance with Prime Ministerial decree of 13th  December 2016; ensuring the smooth implementation of the Obstetric Kit Project; the procurement of essential drugs as a matter of priority from the North West Regional Fund for Health Promotion and exceptionally from any other accredited suppliers as stipulated by Ministerial text of 5th December 2018; ensuring strict compliance with public service regulations in matters of the recruitment, management and retirement of personnel in public health facilities; ensuring strict compliance with texts binding the payment of Solidarity Fund by 3rd category health facilities.

Taking the floor, the new Director pledged to work in collaboration with all and sundry so as to lift the status of the Regional Hospital from where his predecessor has ended.

The ceremony was attended amongst others by the Honorable member of parliament for Bafut-Tubah, Hon Fusi Na’amukong, the media who are close partners to the hospital, community representative on the Management Board, family members of both personalities, staff of the Bamenda Regional Hospital who, through the General Supervisor, expressed their best wishes to the outgoing Director, Dr Kinge Thompson Njie, as he embarks on a new task in a region which is not new to him.

The different speakers who took the floor during the ceremony expressed profound appreciation to the outgoing Director for the legacy he is leaving behind at the hospital and heartily welcomed the new Director into office, pledging to give him the same level of collaboration as was the case with Dr Kinge Thompson.

In his closing remarks, the Regional Delegate strongly pledged the total support of the North West Regional Delegation of Public Health in its capacity as supervisory authority. He then urged the hard working and committed staff of the Bamenda Regional Hospital to give their new Director the same support they gave the outgoing Director, and even more so as to magnify the beauty of team work.
